Our History The Gran Fondo Texas charity bike ride was established in 2010 and the first ride was held in 2011. The ride is the premier Recommended Ride and has become one of the largest rides in Texas. It is charity event with net proceeds going to our beneficiaries. In 2024, the beneficiaries will be the Montgomery County (TX) Food Bank, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the Texas Medical Center Orchestra. All are 501(c)3 organizations. Donations to our beneficiaries since 2011 total $651,000 . Since inception, there have been over 16,000 riders. The ride enjoys the highest of rider approval ratings. In 2021, riders gave the ride a 96% approval rating. This is a reflection of the hard work done by a cadre of over 100 volunteers. The ride is organized by a Steering Committee which meets year-round. The Steering Committee members are all volunteers. There is no paid staff.
